Little Tokyo Restaurant - San Dimas
About This Spot
Stepping into Little Tokyo Restaurant in San Dimas is like finding a quiet pocket of Japan tucked away in the heart of California. The moment you walk through its doors on E Bonita Avenue, the outside world slips away, replaced by a calm, inviting atmosphere where soft lighting and gentle background music set a relaxed pace. It’s not a place of rush or pretension, but rather one where people come together to savor thoughtful, handcrafted dishes and good company.
The spacious dining room opens up more than you might expect from the modest exterior, revealing a welcoming sushi bar where skilled chefs work with quiet focus. This balance between a lively yet unhurried vibe invites you to settle in at your own rhythm, whether you’re catching up with family or enjoying a moment of pause on your own. The staff’s warm attentiveness only adds to the comfort, making you feel recognized over time rather than just another table to serve.
Food here is a gentle discovery in layers — from bites of crisp tempura and playful takoyaki that bring a satisfying crunch to rolls crafted with care and flair. The sushi offers subtle combinations where fresh fish and thoughtful sauces meet, creating tastes that linger just long enough to keep you intrigued. Portions lean toward the modest side, encouraging you to explore a variety of flavors rather than one overwhelming plate. Whether you’re drawn to the familiar or eager to try something with a creative twist, the menu feels like a map for those who appreciate authentic Japanese fare prepared with heart.
Little Tokyo isn’t simply about eating; it’s about the moments in between—waiting for your sushi to arrive, the easy conversations over shared plates, and that comfortable ease that comes from a place where quality and casual comfort meet. It’s a spot that quietly earns its place as a local favorite, perfect for those who value genuine flavor alongside genuine warmth.

The food is great, appetizers are good, drinks are good! Geisha roll is one of my favorites and they absolutely delivered. I feel the rolls are smaller compared to different places, but still definitely worth it. Fried squid was nice and crunchy, very delicious. Takoyaki was nice and hot. Sushi came out pretty quick! The only problem I had was that I finished my sushi before any appetizers came out. Had 3 servers come ask about the meal and I had to tell them that we were waiting for appetizers for a while. After the last one they did come out pretty quick. About 5 minute wait time to get all of our rolls. 15-20 minutes for everyone to finish their sushi. And another 10-15 minutes for our appetizers at the end. Nothing against the servers or staff, there were a lot of customers that came after my party. Overall a good experience, would recommend, and would come back!

Came in for some good Japanese food while visiting family in LA! My brother loves Japanese cuisine and this is a go-to place for them. We ordered the Poke bowl as well as sushi rolls and tempura! They are all pretty yummy and we really enjoyed the food and the company!

This was my first time getting sushi in San Dimas, and I couldn’t have picked a better place! The restaurant has a clean, calm atmosphere that makes for a great dining experience. The service was outstanding—friendly, respectful, and attentive staff made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. And the sushi? Absolutely delicious! I’ve definitely found my new go-to sushi spot.

Great place for Japanese food, especially sushi. I have had lunch here several times, always great. The outside makes one feel this restaurant is small or dingy, it is not. Once you enter you are greeted with an expansive dining room with plenty of seating and a sushi bar. Service is always excellent.

My husband ordered a ZenRoll and a rainbow roll. I ordered a bento box with teriyaki chicken and a California roll it also came with misu soup and a side of rice and a salad. The miso soup came out first then we got our meals together. The food was excellent and it was the largest serving of a bento box of ever received and we love this place by our house with bento boxes but this was way better and very reasonable. Our server was very attentive and he recommended the Zen roll to my husband absolutely loved it.
